What is the award?

UNICEF, the United Nations International Children’s Fund, is the world’s leading organisation for children. Their work is based upon the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This is a document that ensures the countries signed up to it, of which the UK is one, recognise 43 child rights. The convention outlines that every child, regardless of who they are or where they live, grows up safe, healthy and happy.

Bronze Award

In December 2021, we achieved our Bronze Unicef Rights Respecting Schools Award. This means that as a school we are committed to achieving the award. We have an action plan in place for achieving the next stage of the award which is the silver award.

The award was officially launched to pupils on 22nd November, through a class assembly. Pupils the worked in teams to discuss how school could become more rights respecting and what improvements they would like to see.
