We are proud to be named after Mae C Jemison who has achieved many amazing things in her life.

She initially became a medical doctor before becoming an astronaut and being the first African-American woman to travel into space. She was in space for 190 hours, 30 minutes and 23 seconds.

After retiring as an astronaut, she has founded the Jemison Group that involves science and technology research and she has won many important awards and honours, such as being inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame and the International Space Hall of Fame.

Mae C. Jemison’s achievements have broken barriers and opened doors for many individuals in the field of space exploration and beyond. Her journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, passion and a commitment to making a positive impact on the world.
