Vision Statement, values and ethos

Ethos and Values

At Haslam Park Primary School, our vision has been developed collaboratively by staff, governors, pupils and parents. It reflects our shared moral purpose and our collective ambition for every member of our community.

Our Vision
“Together we explore, learn and grow.”

This vision shapes our daily practice and underpins our strategic direction as we continue to improve outcomes for pupils and adults alike.

Our Ambition

Haslam Park Primary School aims to be widely recognised as an inclusive, high-performing school where:

  • High expectations are uncompromising for pupils and adults. Every child, regardless of starting point, SEND, or socio-economic background, is expected and supported to work hard, behave well and achieve highly.

  • The quality of education is consistently strong. Our broad, ambitious and well-sequenced curriculum is rooted in reading, writing and mathematics and carefully designed to meet the needs of our pupils. Teaching and learning are evidence-informed, regularly evaluated and continually refined through professional dialogue and collaboration.

  • Exceptional progress is the norm. End of key stage outcomes demonstrate that pupils, including those with SEND and disadvantaged pupils, make strong progress and leave us well prepared academically and emotionally for secondary education.

  • Personal development is a strength. Pupils leave Haslam Park with a strong sense of identity, secure values, and a clear understanding of ethical behaviour, respect for others and their role in modern Britain. They are resilient, emotionally literate and equipped to contribute positively to society.

  • Safeguarding and wellbeing are embedded. Pupils feel safe, valued and supported, and robust safeguarding systems ensure that every child has a trusted adult and a strong network of care around them.

  • Staff development and wellbeing are prioritised. All staff engage in high-quality, structured professional development from the point they join the school. We promote a positive culture where workload, wellbeing and work–life balance are valued, enabling staff to thrive and sustain excellence.

  • Leadership and governance are effective. Leaders and governors work strategically and collaboratively to drive improvement, hold high standards and ensure the school’s vision is realised in practice.

  • Strong partnerships with parents and the community are evident. Parents share high aspirations for their children and work closely with the school. Haslam Park is well regarded within the local community and families actively recommend the school to others.

Our Values and Ethos

Our values have been developed with contributions from all stakeholders and are central to everything we do. They define our ethos and guide our behaviour, relationships and decision-making.

At Haslam Park Primary School, we are committed to:

  • Happiness and wellbeing: Creating a nurturing, safe and supportive environment where children and adults feel secure, confident and ready to learn.

  • Ambition and excellence: Encouraging all pupils and staff to strive for their best and to believe that success is achievable for everyone.

  • Equity and inclusion: Recognising that fairness means providing different support for different needs. We are proud to be a fully inclusive school where everyone is welcome and valued.

  • Resilience and growth: Understanding that challenge and mistakes are part of learning and that perseverance leads to improvement.

  • Curiosity and exploration: Valuing inquisitiveness, creativity and a love of learning in all areas of school life.

  • Honesty and integrity: Acting with openness, trust and responsibility, even when this is difficult.

  • Compassion and respect: Treating everyone with dignity and kindness, knowing that compassion lies at the heart of a strong community.

Through our ethos, curriculum and relationships, we prepare our pupils to be confident, capable and caring individuals who are ready for the next stage of their education and for life beyond Haslam Park.
