Through our supportive monitoring and quality assurance processes, we identified some inconsistencies in handwriting across Key Stage One.
In response, we implemented a targeted programme of support for both staff and pupils. This included professional development for teachers and support staff, alongside the introduction of additional handwriting resources and structured practice opportunities for children.
This proactive approach reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and aligns closely with Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework, particularly in relation to curriculum quality, high expectations, and the consistent implementation of effective teaching strategies.
As a result of this intervention, we have seen measurable improvements in pupils’ handwriting presentation, confidence, and fluency. Please see the impact of this work outlined below.
