Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome from the Headteacher

I am delighted to welcome you to Haslam Park Primary School. There is something very special about our school, and we are incredibly proud of our unique and ambitious children, our supportive parents, inspirational staff, engaged community members and forward-thinking governors. Together, we ensure that Haslam Park is a safe, happy and fun place to learn where every child can flourish.

Quality of Education

At Haslam Park, learning and high standards are at the heart of everything we do. Our bespoke curriculum is rich, broad and engaging, designed to build knowledge and skills progressively across every subject. Pupils love their learning because their voices help shape what we teach — for example through our Learning Council and regular curriculum reviews.

In the most recent published results, significant proportions of pupils met or exceeded age-related expectations at the end of Key Stage 2, with average scaled scores in reading and maths above national figures and strong progress from pupils’ starting points. This reflects the impact of high-quality teaching and tailored support across the school, including for pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our results demonstrate that pupils make strong academic progress over time and are prepared well for secondary school.

Behaviour and Attitudes

Our children are confident, caring, resilient and inquisitive. We place great emphasis on positive behaviour and attitudes to learning. Pupils understand the importance of working hard, showing respect and demonstrating responsibility in everything they do. While we work hard to secure excellent outcomes, we recognise that assessment data is just one part of our success story — pupils’ wellbeing, curiosity and engagement are equally important.

Personal Development

Haslam Park is a vibrant, inclusive school where pupils are motivated and enthusiastic about learning and life beyond school. Pupils are encouraged to develop strong character traits — confidence, resilience, independence and creativity — so they can thrive as empowered citizens. We celebrate diversity and support pupils to become reflective, respectful and compassionate members of our community and wider society.

We are proud that our wellbeing provision has been externally recognised, including through the Wellbeing Award for Schools, which highlights the strength of our pastoral care for both pupils and staff.

Leadership and Management

Our leadership team and governors work collaboratively to ensure that high expectations of pupils and staff are realised in practice. We are committed to continuous improvement, supported through effective professional development and strategic partnerships. Our inclusive ethos ensures that every pupil is known, valued and supported to succeed.

Safeguarding and Inclusion

Safeguarding is central to all we do. Our systems ensure that children feel safe and listened to, and that we respond promptly to any concerns. Our school is fully inclusive and proudly embraces pupils from a wide range of cultural, linguistic and socio-economic backgrounds. Everyone is welcome here, and our inclusive approach ensures that every child has the opportunity to flourish.

Attendance and Engagement

High attendance is essential to strong learning, and we are pleased that attendance at Haslam Park is consistently strong, with an overall attendance rate around 95% — a positive indicator of pupils’ engagement and enjoyment of school life.
