Summer Term 17.04.23

In English we are continuing to read Letters from the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll. We will be writing a letter of persuasion relating to this novel. This is a wonderful novel set in the 1940's, following on from our prior learning about WW2 in History last term. This novel is a book about a brother and sister, Cliff and Olive, who are evacuated from London to Budmouth Point during the Second World War. Their older sister Sukie is missing and no one knows if she's still alive. Why was Sukie dressed up like her mother when she disappeared?

In Maths we will be continuing to learn all about multiplication and division facts. In order for your child to access this unit well and achieve greater depth children need to be fluent and confident with their multiplication recall facts . Please practise multiplication facts at home daily to ensure your child is confident. In Year 5, your child will learn to identify multiples and factors, including finding all factor pairs of a number, common factors of 2 numbers, and prime numbers. They will solve increasingly complex problems involving multiplications and divisions.
