Earth Day – Wednesday 22nd April 2020.

Earth Day is a world-wide day when everyone in the world is encouraged to raise awareness and remind people of climate change.

It is also a day when we remind people about their carbon foot print. Carbon footprint is how much Carbon Dioxide is used by a person, company or product and the impact it has on the environment.

Normally we would be doing activities in school, but with the current situation we would like your help at home.

We would like you to choose one of the activities below and complete it with your child/children. If you can, please can you take a photo and message it to the class teacher on Class Dojo or email it to them.

Teachers will add photos to the school website, on Twitter and the Class Stories on Class Dojo.

Some ideas for Activities:

Make a rainbow from recycled materials

Make jewellery from recycled paper

Make a piece of artwork from recycled materials (Google Andy Goldsworthy for ideas)

Create signs to remind people to turn lights out when they aren’t in the room

Use old paper and add it with water to make recycled paper, or Google how to make paper

Make a recycling poster and put it up near your bin

Make a bird house from a milk carton

Make a collage of the world from recycled materials

If you have any seeds at home, make a plant pot from recycled materials and plant

Make a video urging others to take action against climate change

Make a powerpoint about climate change

Write and video a rap about climate change

Write a letter to Boris Johnson (Prime Minister) and encourage him that we need to do more. Send it to him at Downing Street, London. See if you get a reply

There are lots of things to do and you are free to come up with your own
